Chinese pupils wear one-metre hats to practise social distancing from others

A primary school in eastern China’s Zhejiang province asked their pupils to wear one-metre hats they each designed themselves using wooden sticks, cardboards, or even balloons, to practise social distancing.

  1. kids wear social distancing hats upon return to school – Poor kids dont even know what is going on. One thing for sure they look cute as a button.

  2. Symbolic of horns. Beast system, get with the program people. Corona means crown, everyone refers to the virus as the beast. Crowning the beast wake tf up

  3. This is not cute. It ingrains in kids brains that other humans are bad and can't be touched. Therefore, their immune system will be low and they can't develop anti-bodies against anything. They will have a weak immune system and they will be unable to socialize properly

  4. Yeah, let's play happy music and pretend that this disturbing practice with 'dunce caps' is ok. Oh how cute! Children are learning to fear each other! Go paranoia yaay!

  5. I enjoy looking at the different designs on the hats. But I find it so strange that a lot of viewers post comments that are so sarcastic. Why must bring in their country government and link these hats to evil? I don’t see what is so evil with the making and wearing of such hats. Come on, all the “matured” international adult folks out there, these are only hats and young primary school kids wearing them in school. I don’t think the underlying reason for this is evil. Relax! They are only hats ! Haha ! Why so many people get so worked up after watching this video all they think is evil? Maybe, many hearts out there in our world today are already basically evil ?

  6. Social distancing below 4.8 meters has been empirically proven to not be generally safe. And at about 8 meters distance (although only after keeping this distance for about at least 10 minutes) one may be actually safe.

    In the news one is hearing repeatedly about the distancing rules of ''1.5 to 2 meters'' due to the pandemic these days, and on this topic, there was some interesting information to be gained from within the 5th run of Physik Journal, for Mai, the 5th month of the year 2020, by the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) (German Physical Society), on page 18, and the following is a direct word by word quote of the relevant parts from there on this topic:

    ''Eine zentrale Rolle kommt dabei der Abstandsregel zu: Der Abstand untereinander soll mindestens anderthalb oder besser noch zwei Meter betragen. Doch woher kommt diese Regel? Die überraschende Wahrheit ist, dass sie auf einer Theorie zur Virusinfektion durch Tröpfchen aus den 1930er-Jahren beruht [1], die längst überholt ist. Heute weiß man, dass selbst ein Abstand von fünf Metern noch nicht unbedingt ''sicher'' ist. William F. Wells entwickelte damals im Zusammenhang mit der Übertragung von Tuberkulose ein Modell unter der Annahme [1], dass die beim Niesen und Husten entstehenden Tropfen eine breite Größenverteilung haben und ohne große Wechselwirkung untereinander aus Mund und Nase fliegen. […] In den letzten Jahren haben die Arbeiten von Lydia Bourouiba vom MIT zur Fluiddynamik des Niesens und Hustens deutlich gezeigt, dass das von Wells entwickelte Bild unzureichend ist. In ihrer aktuellen Veröffentlichung arbeitet sie heraus, was ihre experimentellen und theoretischen Ergebnisse der letzten Jahre für die Risikoabschätzung der Übertragung des Coronavirus bedeuten [2]. Einen Eindruck davon vermitteln die Hoch-geschwindigkeitsfilme des Niesvorgangs (vgl. Video in [2]), die sie und ihre Mitarbeiter in den letzten Jahren aufgenommen haben [3, 4] (Abb. 1). Diese verdeutlichen, dass die Wolke kleinster Speichel- und Schleimtröpfchen bis zu acht Meter weit reicht und bis zu zehn Minuten bestehen bleibt, also viel ausgedehnter und langlebiger ist als im Modell von Wells.''

    ''The distancing rule takes a central role in this topic: The distance between people should be at least one and a half or better two meters. But where does this rule come from? The surprising truth is that it is based on a theory about virus infections via droplets from the 1930ties [1], which is long ago outdated. Today we know that even a distance of five meters is not yet necessarily ''safe''. William F. Wells back then developed in context with the transfer of tuberculosis a model with the assumption [1] that the by sneezing and coughing developing drops have a broad size distribution and fly out of mouth and nose without noteworthy interaction between each other. […] In the last years the works by Lydia Bourouiba from the MIT on the topic of fluid dynamics of sneezing and coughing have clearly shown that the by Wells developed image is insufficient. In her current publication she works out what her experimental and theoretical results of the last years signify for the risk estimation of the transfer of the corona virus [2]. An impression of this is provided by the high speed motion pictures of the sneezing process (compare video in [2]) that she and her coworkers made in the last years [3, 4] (picture 1). These make clear that the cloud of smallest spittle and slime droplets reaches up to eight meters far and lasts for up to ten minutes, and as such is much more extensive and durable than in the model by Wells.''

    Furthermore, the theoretical models from which the 1.5 meters to 2 meters rules emerge assume the persons involved all wear face masks, and are made for scenarios in which these persons do not move. And in particular, these models are not suited for cases without face masks or moving (walking, running, bike riding) persons, especially when they cross each other's path of motion.

  7. No social distancing! stop the propaganda ! these are not funny stuff, they make kids obedient, turn them into robots, no fun in life, just obedience and distancing! don't allow your kids to be turned into robots! they are more than just pieces in a machinery, let them be creative, enjoy life, make friends, have fun, let them be free and LIVE!!!
